Nicky Hockly reads from Teaching Online

Teaching Online by Nicky Hockly and Lindsay Clandfield was recently shortlisted for the 2011 ELTons UK Award for Innovation. The winners will be announced in London on 23 February 2011. It's a book for any teacher interested in online teaching and course delivery. It deals with both the tools and the techniques necessary for online language instruction.

Nicky Hockly has worked in the field of face-to-face and distance education since 1987, as a teacher, teacher trainer and consultant. Her first book for language teachers was How to Teach English with Technology, co-written with Gavin Dudeney and published by Pearson Longman in 2007.

Writing about Teaching Online, she says: "We tried to write the kind of book we would have found useful ourselves when we first started teaching online (in my case back in 1997). Back then there was nothing like it available for language teachers. We really hope the book will be useful for both current and aspiring online teachers."

In this podcast Nicky talks about writing and reads an extract from the book. Many thanks to Delta Publishing for allowing us to include the extract from the book.
