IATEFL
Who is IATEFL for?
IATEFL is truly international. Although the administrative headquarters are in the UK, the majority of our members live in countries where English is not the first language. Members outside the UK contribute greatly to the life of the Association in a wide variety of ways. These include participation in Special Interest Groups, contributions to the newsletter, sitting on IATEFL committees, communicating developmental ideas to Head Office, and giving papers at, or simply attending, conferences and seminars.
The Association is managed and administered from a small office at the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK. The seven remunerated staff are supported by a series of committees, including the IATEFL Committee of Management and the Special Interest Group committees, consisting of ELT professionals from a range of countries. TESOL-SPAIN
Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages in Spain
TESOL-SPAIN, founded in 1977 as a small, independent, non-profit making Spanish association of English language teachers, is today a nationwide organization with a membership that represents all sectors of English language teaching throughout the country.
The organization provides a forum for colleagues to meet, share ideas and discuss professional issues. We aim to keep our membership abreast of current concerns with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of language education in Spain.
TESOL-SPAIN is an associate member of two international teacher associations - TESOL Inc in the USA and IATEFL in the UK, and also maintains links with regional language associations in Spain and other EFL associations abroad. We hold a National Convention each year and, through our regional structure, TESOL-SPAIN organises workshops and other events in different parts of the country.
The quarterly Newsletter keeps members informed about the latest trends and news in the field. It contains articles on practice and theory, book reviews, information about events and much more.
Members can also join any of our on-line Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
The annual TESOL-SPAIN National Convention is attended by EFL professionals from primary and secondary schools, E.O.I.s, universities, technical schools and academies, as well as teacher trainers, materials writers and course planners. Publishers, ELT researchers, members of testing boards, national and international authors also take part in the Convention.
The 3-day Convention offers participants a wide range of presentations by national and international speakers including plenary and keynote presentations, papers, workshops, round tables and product presentations. There are over 100 presentations on a wide variety of topics along with an exhibition area where delegates can browse through the latest publications, try out multi-media materials, find out about what’s on offer from the examining boards, about other teaching associations or about professional development courses at home and abroad.
